APCC must substantiate terror remark: BJP
ITANAGAR: Jun 21: Reacting sharply to the APCC’s press statement terming the cadres of BJP “a terror group,” the State Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has demanded APCC to substantiate allegation.“APCC must prove their allegation with proper evidence or else the party (APCC) must tender public apology for their unfounded remark, stated BJP in a release.
“What happened during 2011 in the state capital in the race for the “Chair” is still fresh in the minds of people, the BJP said, and added that “People, who live in glasshouses, should not throw stones at other people’s houses.”
Aalo against drug use
Aalo, Jun 21: The Soul of Phoenix, a rock band performed at an event sponsored by the Aalo based NGO Mother’s Vision, family of late Lijum Bagra and Pushi Bango Student’s Union at Aalo Club on 20th June. The lively musical concert was organised to generate awareness on the ill effects of drugs and its consequences among the youths that turned up in good numbers. Dr. Ogin Jerang, Medicine Specialist, General Hospital Aalo spoke on ill effects of drugs and the need to control drug use among the teenagers.
The lively presentation which was participatory in nature drew attention of the young participants. The Chairperson of the Mother’s Vision Jumde Yomgam Gamlin disclosed that vicious efforts are being made in all sectors and colonies of Aalo Township to create awareness on ill effects of drug use. She urged for cooperation of all to check the growing menace of drug use so that it is controlled before it adversely hit the society. Training on fisheries technology
Yupia, Jun 21: A two days long training programme (June 20 & 21) on Fisheries Technology Transfer was conducted in collaboration with Department of Fisheries, Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh and Central Institute Fresh Water Aquaculture (CIFA) Bhubaneswar, Odisa, at Sonajuli, Papum Pare at a private fish farm spread over 12 Ha. The training was conducted to motivate progressive fish farmers to take up fish farming on large scale to enhance the fish productions, breeding, management FRP hatchery, fish culture in seasonal pond.

Sensitization program on rights and entitlements
ITANAGAR, Jun 21: Indo Global Social Service Society conducted awareness/sensitisation/training on social issues/rights & entitlements and government schemes/benefits and welfare legislations at Borum Village, Naharlagun on 20th June.
The programme aimed to create awareness and curiosity among the younger generation about social issues and rights and entitlements/Govt. schemes/ benefits and welfare legislature.
Bengia Seema spoke on govt. schemes like Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao (BBP) scheme which was launched by the Ministry of Women Empowerment & Child Development, Government of India. She explained that the main objectives of the scheme are to ensure survival and protection of girl child and their education.
She also shared about her research study where it was found that rural women work harder than man. They engaged themselves in various activities for the wellbeing of their family.

Committee expresses dissatisfaction over road project
ITANAGAR, Jun 21: The people of Payum circle under the banner of Road Development Monitoring Committee have expressed dissatisfaction over the two road projects alleging that the road in the circle is still in deplorable condition.
It informed that the 97kms BRTF road project, the only life line for the people of Payum circle that started way back in 1999 is still incomplete.

PASIGHAT, June 21: Under “Swachh Bhrat Abhiyan”, the local residents of Ward No-
Councilor, Kangge Moyong urged the shop keepers and owners of commercial establishment in and around Pasighat urban area to install at least one dustbin in front of their shops.
Among others, vice president and secretary of All Bogong Students Union (ABSU), Dulen Ering and Lenzing Taggu and ward committee members attended the programme. The student leaders have donated a large size plastic dustbin for use in the Meat and Fish market.
On the other hand, the ABSU members on the same day cleaned the memorial site of Late Onyok Moyong at Pasighat. Late Moyong was an active AASPSU worker and was killed with a bullet during AAPSU’s ‘Arunachal Bachao movement’ in 1993.

Dalai Lama’s Arunachal visit called off
His Holiness turns 80
ITANAGAR, Jun 21: Dalai Lama’s proposed visit to Arunachal in November this year has been called off.
Chief Minister Nabam Tuki said that lacs of people were preparing to welcome His Holiness to Arunachal. He invited His Holiness to visit Arunachal Pradesh at any later date so as to enable the people to receive his blessings.
He was addressing the 80th Birthday celebrations of His Holiness, the 14th Dalai Lama in Dharamshala today.
The Chief Minister Nabam Tuki said that there will be a Minister for Tibetan Affairs as a Nodal Minister for Tibetan issues in the State.
The Chief Minister also spoke about various measures taken by the Government for safeguarding the Tibetan heritage.
Tuki informed that this years’ allocation for the Department will be increased to Rs. 10 crore to furthering the activities of the Buddhist Culture.
“We are taking steps to strengthen the scope of the Department of Karmik and Adhyatmik Affairs (Chosrig) which was created to oversee the promotion and preservation of the ancient Buddhist heritage in our state. Along with other major works, we are also making efforts on the Bhoti language by initiating several training and awareness programmes for teachers and common people, he said.
We have been creating settlements as per the Government of India’s Tibetan Rehabilitation Policy of 2014 and taking necessary measures to create a conducive environment for their stay, Tuki said. There were some grievances related to basic minimum services and utilities which are being solved by my Government, the Chief Minister added.
On behalf of Arunachal Pradesh, Tuki presented a statue of Buddha Shakyamuni and a citation to His Holiness the Dalai Lama for his contribution to the humanity. The Central Tibetan Administration, Riwo Geden and the Dhomay Association jointly offered a long life prayer offering to the Tibetan leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama on his 80th birthday today as per the Tibetan lunar calendar.
Adorning the traditional yellow hat, the Tibetan spiritual leader accepted the mandala offering and citation from His Eminence Sakya Ghongma Rinpoche in the presence of the heads and representatives of the four traditions of the Tibetan Buddhism and Bon.
His Holiness the Dalai Lama told the gathering that the best birthday gift for him would be adherence to the teachings of Lord Buddha and continuation of being the custodian of the rich tradition. His Holiness said, adding that India is an example of a land where all major religious traditions coexisted for hundreds of years.
“India should be an example of religious tolerance, he said.

Arunachal Pradesh joins International
Yoga Day Celebration
ITANAGAR, Jun 21: Arunachal Pradesh today joined the celebration of International Yoga Day with a large number of people turning out for the programme at Indira Gandhi Park here despite the rain.
Governor Jyoti Prashad Rajkhowa, students and teachers of different educational institutes, faith groups, government officials and citizens participated in the event under the guidance of Yoga instructor Nagesh Singh of Patanjali.
Greeting the participants and organisers on the occasion, the Governor said Yoga was essentially a spiritual discipline based on an extremely subtle science which focuses on bringing harmony between mind and body.
"It is an art and science for healthy living," he said and called upon the people to incorporate Yoga as part of their daily life.
Yoga, he said, provides physical and mental well being of the people and that is why it has been gaining popularity both in the East and the West.
He said Yoga is not a religion but a way of living, aiming for a healthy mind in a healthy body. It aims to achieve this through a series of physical and mental exercises, he said.
"Yoga originated in Hindusthan, the Land of the Indus or Bharatvarsa nearly 15000 years ago, when there was no religious division in the society and was universally accepted as one of the most ideal practices of mankind," he added.
First Lady of State Rita Rajkhowa and members of Raj Bhawan and their family performed Yoga at Raj Bhawan under the guidance of Yoga instructor Razzak Rehman and demonstrator Radhe Kaku from ‘The Art of Living’.
The event was organised by International Day for Yoga celebration committee, Itanagar which includes Indigenous Faith and Cultural Society Arunachal Pradesh, Patanjali Yog Samiti Arunachal Pradesh, Art of Living Arunachal Pradesh, Arunachal Vikas Parishad, Bhrahmakumaris, Arun Jyoti and Arunachal Shiksha Vikas Samiti.
The state government in collaboration with Health and Family Welfare and AYUSH observed International day for Yoga by holding a mass yoga demonstration at Banquet hall here. PCCI President, Padi Richo and Secretary for Health and Family Welfare Indra Mallo also joined the yoga demonstration along with students from Vevakananda School, Chimpu.
The President PCCI advised the students to practice Yoga everyday and spread awareness amongst their family and friends as Yoga cleanses body, mind and soul. He also advocated for introducing yoga classes in all the schools, and if possible have a class for officers, politicians and others.
Secretary for health and family welfare, Indra Mallo also advised the students and others in the programme to incorporate Yoga in their life as it bring peace and harmony.
Reports of International Yoga Day celebration are also pouring in from different parts of the state.
AT KHONSA, the Day was observed at GHSS Khonsa organised jointly by district administration and department of health and family welfare in association with education department.
Deputy Commissioner Komlesh Joshi, who inaugurated the yoga camp, said, “Yoga is not merely a physical exercise but also an art, a holistic approach for wellbeing of mind and soul”. He encouraged the participants to adopt yoga for a healthy leaving.
DMO K. Perme, Principal of the School Manphe Hosai also spoke and highlighted on the benefits of practicing yoga.

APYC blames BJP for two deaths during bandh
ITANAGAR, Jun 21: Arunachal Pradesh Youth Congress (APYC) has categorically held the BJP sponsored June 19 bandh call responsible for loss of two innocent human lives and inconvenience to all sections of the society on that day.
The day of the bandh turned out to be fatal for some families as Bahadur Raksap, a Class V student of VKV, Nirjuli, drowned in Papu Nallah River at Damsite on that day.
The family of one Hiba Tugdek of Kurung Kumey was coming from Sangram on the night of June 18 in a vehicle and was in a hurry to reach Itanagar before the bandh hours begin. His family met with a fatal accident near Harmutty, Assam. He lost his son Hiba Tagar on the spot and four other relatives received serious injuries. They are undergoing treatment in RK Mission Hospital, Itanagar, APYC informed in a release.
“Had there been no bandh call the student (Bahadur Raksap) would have been in the school and thereby averted his eventual fate. The Tata Xenon accident would not have occurred if the passengers were not in a hurry to reach Itanagar before the bandh hours,” said APYC.
The BJP workers also attacked and damaged parked cars belonging to innocent citizens thus the party has gone down to the status of a petty street organization, the press statement said.
As per the directive of the Supreme Court, the responsibility of any loss and damage caused due to a bandh call must be fixed on the bandh callers, APYC added. Meanwhile, empathising with the victims of the bandh call, the 13th Itanagar Assembly Youth Congress Committee unit of the APYC strongly condemned the bandh and demanded action against the BJP leaders who sponsored the bandh.
The APYC Assembly Unit also demanded that the BJP compensate the bereaved families for the irreparable loss and tender unconditional public apology to the people for causing damages to their properties.
As the central government is led by the BJP, the state BJP should also provide central government jobs for the families of the deceased on compassionate ground, it demanded.

AHSA lifts maiden Dree Football trophy
ITANAGAR, Jun 21: All Hija Sports Association (AHSA) lifted their maiden Dree Football Trophy in the 48th edition of the tournament defeating defending champion Sojang Lapang Sports Club (SLSC) by a single goal in the final at Dree Ground, Ziro today.
The all important goal was scored by Kime Dokho in 28th minutes.

Photo walk with nature and culture
Ziro, Jun 21: Arunachal Photography Club (APC), Ziro Unit organised a photo walk for the passionate and enthusiast photographers of Ziro on the theme “A walk with nature and culture” on June 20.
The photo walk was organised to understand nature and culture and to shoot with a purpose with a responsibility to let the hidden, less traded be known to the world outside.
Fifteen photographers, two male models, four female models, two child models and an old lady model participated in the walk which started at 10 in the morning and concluded with photo reviews and analyses of the photographs in the evening at Hotel Blue Pine.
Expert observations on the photographs were put in by Teli Ringu Camdir, the General Secretary of APC. He informed that APC is collaborating with Nikon India for various workshops so that passionate photographers could learn the technicalities and take up photography as a career.
Dr. Joram Khope, a senior photographer and a mentor of APC Ziro exhorted that learning photography is a gradual yet easy process and that enthusiasts could learn without much effort if one has the passion. Nending Ommo, a member of APC speaking on the occasion emphasised that culture is a serious theme for photography and that the models and the photographers should have sound knowledge of the culture they are shooting and expert guidance on culture and attire should be sought whenever necessary. He also pointed out that undoing a wrong done is very laborious and lengthy work, so one has to try to shoot avoiding all possible mistakes regarding the theme.
The photo walk was choreographed by Hage Duyu, coordinated by Dogin Hinda and Tadu Omo. The photo walk was also joined by five members of APC Itanagar.

An open letter to the DC
Dear Editor,
Through the column of your esteemed daily, I would like to draw the kind attention of Deputy Commissioner capital Mige Kamki towards the prices of certain commodities in Itanagar Market.
Few weeks ago, I saw a notification / order published in this esteem daily, served by the DC Capital in which I found that the prices of vegetables, meat where fixed and it was also clearly mentioned that if any vegetable or meat sellers violates and neglects the order, strict legal action shall be initiated according to the law and their license would be seized. But to my utter surprise, the vegetable and meat vendors are charging higher prices as before neglecting the prices fixed by our Deputy Commissioner.
When I warned them about the DC’s order, they said that they are not going to follow as per the order of DCs as the profit margins are less. So is the notification just merely an eye wash? If the orders were not to be enforced than why it was notified?
And if orders are being followed, may I ask the DC how many licenses have been seized from vegetable and meat sellers as per your order as none of them are abiding and following the order?
So through this daily, I would like to draw the kind attention of our DC to please enforce the order, otherwise people will stop obeying your orders thinking that you do not take action against the violators.

Legislators call the shot so spare the DCs
Dear Editor,
This is in reference to the news item published under the heading, “DC empowered to transfer, post administrative officers” on June 18.
As reported in the newspapers, state Cabinet has decided to delegate powers to DCs to affect transfer and postings of COs and EACs within the district, on the pretext of strengthening the district administration.
Like so many other rules framed earlier, the above rule is also being made only in the interest of state legislators. There is no denying the fact that transfer/posting is the greatest weapon of the legislators to either punish or reward any govt employees. And it is also the tool to strengthen the concerned legislators’ position in the area by posting the officers of his/her liking, i.e. one who will toe their line.
Like any other officers, DCs are also generally kept posted at any place till he/she enjoys the confidence of the local legislator(s). Hence, every DC generally is always obliged to their local legislators.
Thus, although DCs have now been empowered to effect transfer/posting of COs and EACs within the district, but in reality it is the concerned local legislators who shall call the shot and the DCs shall be mere rubber stamp.
Instead of strengthening the district administration, it will only create chaos at
the whims and fancies of uneducated/semi-
Although the local legislators even now plays the role in transfer/posting, but if
the above rule is promulgated, then it will give them greater flexibility in exercising
their choices every now and then, which will create nothing but complete chaos. Also,
instead of strengthening the district administration, it has the potential to create
heart-
Hence, my simple request is, please let DCs concentrate on administration and governance, and don’t over burden them further with transfer/posting exercises.
If need be, requirement placed by DCs to Secretary/Commissioner (Personnel) may be given due preferences. Moreover, as per the urgent requirements, DCs currently do exercise local arrangement.

Development is for all
Dear Editor,
On the 9th of June, a news item on your daily claimed that All Bori Students Union were making allegation against the leader of opposition ShriTamiyo
Taga. They purported that he had misused his power and centrally sponsored schemes and also claimed that he had done no real development in the area. But as far as my knowledge is concerned, he is all for development, a people’s friendly leader who has brought many development schemes to 32
Rumgong constituency and has seen to it that they are implemented properly. He is the only leader who upgraded Rumgong and Kaying to CO to ADC post, constructed roads from Aalo to Rumgong and almost all interior parts of the villages have been connected via surface and mobile communications. Infrastructures development of the 32 Rumgong constituency has been drastically improved compared to other constituencies of the state.
Although he has been in opposition for a long time, there are limited development packages in his hand but he has brought in so many development packages and schemes to the area.
The allegation made against him seems baseless and politically motivated and such allegations discourage and hamper the development of the area. How could he have misused centrally sponsored schemes as he is in the opposition not in the ruling party?
